Easement Update
The RVLT has just accepted another easement, our third this year, for a total of four. Acres now protected total about 250 acres. The latest easement is on 22 acres behind several lots on Sand Lake. This easement took some time because the property is owned by twelve separate parties who own lots on Sand Lake. When the property around Sand Lake was first platted in 1917, these were back lots that did not have direct access to the lake. When the adjacent lakefront lots were bought, the owners also bought joint interests in these. Now it can safely be stated that these lots will never be developed. Our first easement in 1994 was a drop in the bucket. We hope that the current trickle will soon become a steady stream.
