Prosser M. Watts, Jr

Prosser M. Watts, Jr“Mike” has been on the board of directors of the RVLT since 1995. He has been in the general practice of law in Adrian since he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1958. His roots are in this area. His great-grandparents on both sides of the family moved to Lenawee County when it was first settled. As a young man he lived all over the country, but always returned in summer to the family cottage on Sand Lake.

He was the first president of ECOL, the Environment Council of Lenawee County. ECOL contributed to the founding of the Lenawee County Parks System, the acquisition of the Bi-Centennial Woods on Tipton Highway, and the dedication of several Natural Beauty Roads in the county.

Experience has taught Mike that environmental battles are won one year and then whittled away over successive years. He believes that one of the most effective ways to preserve open space and natural areas is to preserve them through the tools that land trusts have to offer.
