Spring Into the RVLT
Two RVLT Directors recently attended a workshop for land trusts which focused on increasing membership. This is not an area we have put a lot of effort into, and we realize the reason is partly because the idea of selling our message doesnt appeal to us. We have hoped that our conservation message would motivate people to jump on our bandwagon. But the fact is that everyone is bombarded by thousands marketing messages everyday, and few people are going to look at our low-key operation and say: Boy, Id really like to be part of that, I think Ill join. So we have made a modest challenge to each of our nine board members, plus one supporter, to recruit a total of thirty new members by the end of June. We are going to try to get better at touting our message directly to people, and showing that we are proud of what we are doing. If you know one of us, you could call us up to join and give us credit toward meeting our quota. Or you could just join to increase our ranks even more and make each of us work for our three new members.
