The Southeast Michigan Stewardship Network
ounded
in the Huron River watershed in 1998, the SMSN links diverse experts
in natural areas management. A Headwaters cluster was
initiated in 2002 in Oakland and Livingston counties. The Raisin cluster
will be the second to form.
Mission of the Southeast Michigan Stewardship Network:
Foster region-wide
communication and cooperation among the professional and volunteer
stewards to expand our knowledge base and encourage understanding
and appreciation of the regions biodiversity.
Increase and
diversify the learning opportunities available to professional and
volunteer stewards in a way that expands and strengthens the restoration
and management of natural areas in southeast Michigan.
Encourage, coordinate,
and facilitate public participation and understanding of our areas
natural areas by developing collaborative education programs and promoting
volunteer opportunities.
